Clemson gets off to a rough start turning the ball over early as Cyrus Jones makes a spectacular interception of a deep Deshaun Watson pass and returns it down to the 11 yard line. Jacob Coker takes advantage hitting Tight End O.J. Howard with a precise pass in tight coverage for a touchdown. Clemson answers with a solid drive that ends in a field goal but is surprisingly held to only 3 points going into the second quarter. In the second, Alabama scores on a field goal from the 30-yard line, bringing the score to 10-3.
After a defensive stop, Alabama drives and kicks another successful FG from the 25-yard line. In a dominant defensive half Bama’ comes up with another big interception in Clemson territory leading to Derrick Henry rumbling in for a touchdown and a halftime score of 20-3.
In the 2nd half led by a resurgent Deshaun Watson, Clemson scores two more field goals coming within 9 points by the end of the quarter. Alabama drives and scores another field goal from the 35-yard line, but Clemson finds a bit more hope in the 4th with a clutch touchdown pass by Watson.
After exchanging punts the Tigers have one last chance to tie the game up on a final drive but the Alabama defense makes a big stop on 4th down sealing the victory as the game ends with a final score of 23-16 in favor of The Crimson Tide. In a fairly defensive game Alabama QB Jacob Coker takes home the MVP passing for 192 yards completing 17 of 34 attempts and a TD in a solid mistake free performance.
But will our final simulation be accurate? We’ll have to wait until Monday to find out. For now, let us know what you thought about our simulations in the comments or on social media, and be sure to tell us who you’re rooting for in the championship!
