JFF Announces New Trade Guidelines

The JFF Online Madden League Commissioner Alan Roger Currie has released an official statement regarding Gameplay Rules and Trading Guidelines for the upcoming Fall 2014 league season, set to begin on Monday, September 8, 2014.

“Many of the trading guidelines from the last two seasons will be modified for the new season, but some guidelines from last season will still be in effect” said Currie. Here is a quick list of some of the new trading guidelines that will be in effect for the Fall 2014 season:

  • When trading players, the player’s modified “XP OVR ratings” that are increased and/or decreased during the Connected Franchise Mode season because of performance and XP points will not be relevant; Only the “default” EA Sports OVR roster ratings will apply to trade guidelines;

  • Starting with the Fall 2014 season, the maximum number of players allowed on any team’s roster that have a (default) EA Sports OVR rating of 90 – 99 will be twelve. Also, the maximum number of players allowed on any team’s roster that have a (default) EA Sports rating of 80 – 89 will be twenty-four. This is to prevent league members from creating potential “super fantasy teams”; There will be no limits on the number of players on a team’s roster with a (default) EA Sports OVR rating of 79 or less.

  • League members will only be able to trade players for players; League members will not be able to trade players for draft picks, or draft picks for players. League members will be able to trade players PLUS draft picks for players (e.g., One player and one draft pick for a player; One player and two draft picks for a player, or two players and one draft pick for a player);

  • Between JFF Week #5 and JFF Week #9, each Owner / Coach will be limited to a maximum of fifteen (15) players received and traded away; League members will be allowed to offer trades to CPU-controlled teams between JFF Week #5 and JFF Week #9, as long as they adhere to the other trading guidelines.

Here are the trading Guidelines that will be maintained from the Fall 2013 season:

1) Each trade transaction must be within an average of five (5) OVR (default) rating points for each of the players involved in the trade. Some examples:

Example #1: if you are receiving one player with a default OVR rating of 92, then you must trade away a player from your team that has a default OVR rating of no lower than 87 and no higher than 97;

Example #2: if you are receiving two players from another team – one with a default OVR rating of 97 and another with a default OVR rating of 82 – then this means the OVR trade value of the players you are receiving is “179”; Consequently, you must trade away two players with a combined OVR trade value of no lower than 169, and no higher than 189;

Example #3: If you are receiving as many as three players from another team – one with a default OVR rating of 95, another with a default OVR rating of 87, and a third with a default OVR rating of 71 – this means the OVR trade value of the players you receiving is “253”; Consequently, you must trade away three players with a combined OVR trade value of no lower than 238, and no higher than 268

2) Salary cap will remain “ON” unless the majority of the membership votes to turn it “OFF” at the end of the Preseason period

3) You can receive or trade away an unlimited number of players during the Preseason and the first four weeks of the Regular Season, as long as your roster does not exceed the maximum number of players allowed with an OVR (default) rating of 80 or higher.

4) All trades that are in violation will be reversed by the League Commissioner

The JFF Commissioner will announce other Gameplay rules on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Some gameplay rules may be added, deleted, or modified at the conclusion of the 4-week Preseason contests.
